 Holy Mac: this is turning out to be a real workout! September 5, 2010

Many moons ago, I used to exercise with the old traditional hoop, remember the ones that was a single plastic hoop. And i could vouch then that it was great at loosing inches around my waist along with other aerobic exercises. Now, the waist line has expanded again and i was in search of the hoop. This one is a new funky version of yester years and it is weighted with ridges. I was a little daunted when it arrived and when assembled, it was heavier than I thought. It took a few minutes to get back into the rhythm and I can see that this new hoop will loose the inches FAST! Also, it helps to massage the stomach area, which is great for digestive issues.. Loose weight and do some yoga-like massages all in one. I concur that until you get to it, the ridges do cause some initial discomfort. It will be worth it! Easy to assemble, not so easy to dissembles, though. This is definitely an exercise in itself, as I worked up a sweat after five minutes of continuous use.
The box comes with instructions for assemble, for beginners and limiting use to maximum of 10minutes twice a day that you work up over a period of three weeks. Yes, bruising can occur if over used and from initial use due to the weighted feature. Do not use if you are pregnant.

I love this! Now if I could be more religious about using it. That's my fault, but am sure it would be most beneficial. You don't have to change clothes and it doesn't make any noise like a treadmill. Ha! Shipping was great.

Why oh why didn't I read these reviews and actually believe them before buying this unbelievably painful hoop? My God. It hurts. But it works. On day one, I could only hoop for about 30 seconds before the excruciating pain set in. These ridges just dug into my hips and made it so painful to continue.
The assembly is super easy, and this is certainly a very sturdy hoop, but why the hell did they put those wavy ridges in it? It was like someone was beating me all around my back, hips, and sides with a hammer as this hoop went around and around. I'm in the process of trying to find a back support I got from the doctor a while back that velcros around my waist. I think it'll help with the pain. I tried tying a light towel around my waist while using this, and it worked. However, after one or more rotations, it fell off. Buy with caution, or be sure to wear something around your waist when using this. I can't imagine that this will get any better with time. I am bruised and battered.

We ordered the 3 lb. Acu Hoop direct from the manufacturer but had to return it because it would not assemble so that it would stay flat. The hoop sections are all molded plastic so one would think they would fit properly together and maintain a rigid circle but some sections always would wobble out of alignment. After returning the Acu Hoop we found the same ones at a local sports shop and since they said we could return it if we were unsatisfied, we bought it and this second Acu Hoop assembled just fine. My recommendation is to buy one of these at a local shop so if you need to return it you can do so without paying postage.
