Product Description
INDICATIONS: Omrons most technologically advanced pedometer, model HJ - 720ITC, now includes Omron Health Management Software to help you track days, weeks, months and years of exercise.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer is an advanced, high-tech pedometer that--thanks to unique dual sensor technology--can be carried in your pocket or bag. Now you can just drop your pedometer in your purse to find out how much exercise you get in a typical day of work, errands, and other tasks. Of course, you can also attach it to your belt like a traditional pedometer.

The device's large, easy-to-read LCD display can separately display aerobic steps and minutes walked more than 10 minutes continuously, so you always have the information you need right in front of you. Meanwhile, a seven day history lets you review a full week of exercise, and there's also a 42-day memory for uploading past workouts to your PC. The device resets at midnight automatically so it's ready to go every morning. Of course, the device can also function as a handy and highly accurate clock. It also comes with a detachable belt holder and security strap so it's always close at hand.

The HJ-720ITC is powered by a replaceable lithium battery (CR2032) that will last six months when used for walking 10,000 steps a day. The pedometer also includes PC software for Windows 2000 or XP, which keeps track of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress.

The included Omron Health Management Software provides a steps graph that lets you see how your values are trending over time. View larger.

Take your health to the next level with the included Omron Health Management Software. This PC software provides a blood pressure and pulse graph that lets you see how your values are trending over time. A morning/evening comparison graph tracks your morning and evening systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate. You can also view your most common values and identify variations by time frame with the frequency distribution graph. The software is simple to use, and it supports multiple users. With just one click, you can download data via the HJ-720ITC's USB connection and see graphically displayed measurements on your computer screen in seconds.

5 out of 5 stars Great item!   March 6, 2010
J. Lindsay (Houston Texas)
Easy to use, and great motivator to walk more and even eat better. Everytime I look at how many steps I've taken, I'm reminded of my fitness goals. I haven't uploaded the info into the computer yet, but am looking forward to that feature.

5 out of 5 stars Works great   March 6, 2010
Paul R. Kenyon (Littleton, CO)
The product is exactly as advertised. I especially like that I'm encouraged to walk more by tracking my progress with the included software. The ease of use provided by the non-restrictive mounting requirements is also a plus (e.g., attach it to a backpack). Using the safety strap is essential, as the unit has fallen off my waist band several times. The only negative comment is that it is a bit bulky, but this is very tolerable.

4 out of 5 stars Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer with Advanced Omron Health Management Software   March 5, 2010
David C. Vollendorf (Grantsburg, WI)
Great Product. I where it every day, helps me track my activity for the day. The only thing I don't like is that it falls off my waistband on my pants, pretty easy and doesn't seem to be accurate if the item is not vertical i.e. sideways in a pocket. I like the software, but haven't played around with it much.

5 out of 5 stars Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer   March 5, 2010
S. Van Why (Denver)
My wife and I each got one of the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometers, and have been very impressed at how easy they were to set up, and how accurate they have been. We've used several pedometers before, but have never had as accurate as the Omron HJ-720ITC. It is also very helpful to be able to download the records to see how we are progressing. If you are considering purchase of the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer, I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Not A Bad Pedometer, But It Has A Few Quirks   March 3, 2010
D. J. Bergquist (Colorado)
I've been using this pedometer for a few weeks now and have to say that all-in-all it is a pretty good model.

Basically, after set-up, you carry it in your pocket (or wear it on your belt) and it tracks your steps and your aerobic steps by the time you take them. You can then off-load that data into a program that will draw graphs that will compare the steps taken against the targets you set.

The good stuff: The pedometer is pretty easy to set-up, the interface on the computer is good looking and largely self-explanatory. It comes with a wrist strap and a clip so that it can be worn like a pocket watch or strapped into your briefcase or purse. It will apparently even count steps when it is being carried in one of those locations. (Though I have not tried this.)

The bad stuff: The clock on it is not the best. Mine gains about three minutes a week. The unit's face must be within 30-degrees of vertical while being carried or it will not register steps. It does not matter how the unit is oriented as long as the face is nearly vertical... If you think of it like a coin, if the coin is standing on its edge, it works, if it is laying on its face or its back it doesn't. This is pretty easy as long as your pockets are fairly tight... but as I tend to wear loose clothing when I work out, I noticed that the thing was not registering the time I spent on the treadmill. I went back and read the instructions and discovered this. Clipping the thing to my belt during the workouts has fixed this issue.

Overall, I would recommend this. There are a couple quirks that bother me as a software designer, but the average person would probably never notice them. For example. If you leave the PC program running and the pedometer hooked-up to the PC, the system will put your steps on the wrong date... (This happened to me once!) I set-up to transfer my steps on Friday night and then the phone rang. I found the thing still connected the next morning, finished the offload and then noticed that Saturday was already populated with the steps I had taken the day before.

Oh well! Too bad the only way to correct data errors is to uninstall the software and start over!

But as I have said all-in-all, this is a pretty good pedometer and I would recommend it to a friend.
